This has made me realize what the 1st amendment is really about: it's a defense against ideology, i.e. the right to call out someone's bs.

Dammit, mixed up clients, and this one has no edit feature somehow.

Unless I'm mistaken, UVA is literally trying to argue that offensive speech isn't protected?

From what I understand, as a public university, UVA is required to uphold first amendment rights, so even the standard counter of "private does whatever it wants and should be beholden to nobody" doesn't apply here
