pfSense is a completely different product and not related to OpenWrt at all. It even isn't based on Linux, but on FreeBSD.

I assume GP is aware of that, and from what I understand, he is pointing out that OpenWRT also happens to run great on various x86 hardware/SBCs sold as "pfsense boxes".

Yes, but the parent is just saying that x86 based hardware that sells itself as being a “pfSense box” also runs OpenWRT.
